Deloris Ann (Walker) Glidewell, age 60, was born February 7, 1954 to Paul Evans and Effie Pearl (Calhoun) Walker in Wright County, Missouri. She passed away from this life unexpectedly on March 12, 2014.
Deloris’s passion was her son, grandchildren and extended family. She loved being outdoors, going floating, camping and taking walks in the woods with her husband. Deloris loved music. She played a guitar and sang country music and later in life enjoyed singing in the choir while attending as a member at Souls Harbor Church, Houston, Missouri. Deloris loved the Lord with all her heart.
Through her life she had many occupations. She attended beauty college in St. Louis and obtained her license as a beautician and opened her own shop, called Dee’s Beauty Salon. She worked at Brown Shoe Company, H. D. Lee, and Hoth’s Manufacturing, then she sustained an injury which ended her working career. Being unable to work she made many friends through social media, enjoyed doing cross-stitch and on occasion reading a good book.
Deloris attended Houston and Mtn. Grove schools and received her GED as an adult.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Nettie Arvilla England; and two brothers, Charles Thomas Walker and Tipton “Tip” Evans Walker.
Deloris is survived by her son, Byron Lee Ward and wife Shannon of O’Fallon, Missouri; her husband, Robert Glidewell of Cabool, Missouri; three sisters, Pauline Hicks and husband Tom of Willow Springs, Missouri, Doris Wilson of Cabool, and Donna Hutsell and husband Benny of Cabool; three grandchildren, Jacob, Joseph and Catherine Ward of O’Fallon; and several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family respectfully requests that donations be made to the Deloris Glidewell Memorial Fund, c/o Evans Funeral Home, in lieu of flowers.
