Paul Alan Buwalda was born on September 27, 1962 to Paul O. and Delores Workman Buwalda in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He passed away January 11, 2014 at his home in Des Moines, Iowa.
He received his early education in the Pella Schools and graduated from Pella High School with the class of 1981. He then attended Central College in Pella, Iowa, graduating in 1985.
Paul had been employed at Pella Corporation and for the past ten years he worked at the John Deere Company in Des Moines, where he was the Assembly-UAW Time Study Representative.
On July 10, 2009, Paul was united in marriage with Nikkole Morrow in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Paul enjoyed spending time with his son, Rayshard, and caring for his family. He was an outdoorsman, a people person, and was always willing to help family and friends. Football was always an important part of his life, starting in Arizona with the Pop Warner League and then playing for Pella High School and Central College.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nikkole of Des Moines; his son, Rayshard; his stepdaughter, Jazmarye Morrow; his parents, Paul and Delores Buwalda of Cabool, Missouri; and his siblings, Jana Ogden of Bloomfield, Iowa, and Steven Buwalda of Cabool.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John M. Buwalda II, in 1996.
His funeral service was held Friday, January 17, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Garden Chapel Funeral Home, Pella, Iowa, with Pastor Keith Korver officiating. Pallbearers were Paul Buwalda, Jana Ogden, Reuben Buwalda, Ron Vanden Berg, Nate Sanders, Mitch Wilson and Rayshard Buwalda. Interment was at Graceland Cemetery, Pella.
