Doris June (Brown) Montgomery was born to Allison E and Ida (Skyles) Brown on June 16, 1928 and departed this life on October 4, 2013 at the age of 85. She was born and lived most of her life in the Cabool, Missouri, area.
As a young person, she worked in Cabool at a dry cleaning business. In April 1959 she married Herschel D Montgomery. Sometime after his death in 1961, she moved to Fulton, Missouri, to be near her sister, Geraldine McKee, and her family. While there she worked at other dry cleaners and then became employed at Fulton Manor Nursing Home in Fulton. She was the supervisor of the cleaning department. She retired from there in 1990.
Shortly after she retired she moved to Summersville, Missouri, to be with her brother, Donald, and his wife. Then she moved to Pineview Heights in Cabool where she resided until she had to move to Mountain View HealthCare nursing home.
Doris had many talents as a craft person. She brightened many peoples’ lives with her beadwork, making several bead clocks and other items for her sisters and nieces plus all the other beadwork she did for herself. One of the many items was a beautiful round table with all crystal beads. She also loved to sew and was a very accomplished seamstress.
She was faithful in going to church as long as her health allowed her. She still went to some of the church gatherings in the nursing home.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Herschel; her parents; four brothers, Allison “Jack,” John “Lloyd,” Delman “Bob,” and Wiley Luther; and two sisters, Leona M. Brown Grogan Kirkpatrick and M. Joan Brown McKee.
She is survived by one brother, Donald Brown (Loretta), Summersville; two sisters, Allie Edith Wheeler, Nixa, Missouri, and Geraldine F. McKee (Chuck), Fulton Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Audra “Toots” Brown Jackson (Carl), Houston, Missouri, and Mae Brown, a Houston House resident; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.
