George Ernest Ice, age 73, departed this life on December 6, 2013. He was the son of Calvin and Julia (Stankey) Ice, born November 20, 1940 at Houston, Missouri.
He was saved and baptized at a young age while attending Grandview Baptist Church. He attended Grandview Grade School and graduated Cabool High School in 1957. He graduated from Northeast Missouri State University in 1976.
On August 18, 1960 he married Naomi Ireland. They lived and raised their daughters in Ballwin, Missouri. George retired in 1993 and they moved to their Shayrenda Ridge Ranch southeast of Houston, Missouri, in 1995. While living in Ballwin, George worked for 30 years as a patrolman and detective for the St. Louis County Police Department. He enjoyed his career as a policeman.
He had many hobbies, his most important being a great husband, father and grandfather. He loved being with his family, camping, traveling, hunting, fishing and just being in the woods and out in the country. He was a country boy at heart. He also loved his church family and attending Central Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Naomi; two daughters, Darenda Hatcher and husband Eddie of Woodbridge, Virginia, and Dasha Noll and husband Todd of Villa Ridge, Missouri; and three grandchildren, Brianna Hatcher, Eddie Hatcher III and Braedon Noll. His grandson Eddie helped care for him during the last weeks of his life.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Don Ice; and a sister, Shirley Greathouse.
George will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 14, 2013, from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at Evans Funeral Home with services beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ed Hamilton officiating. Pallbearers will be Byron Hester, Charles Norman, Ronnie Ice, Julius Fraley, James Booker, Rueben Roedeske, Darrin Ice and Chris Ely. Burial will be in Ozark Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
