Gladys Gan, 94, of Cabool, Missouri, passed from this earth on November 23, 2013 at Kabul Nursing Home.
She was born on February 14, 1919 at Bloodland, Missouri, the daughter of Francis Marion and Ada (Madden) Gan.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Eula Gan of Cabool; and four brothers, Kermit Gan of Bloodland and Vernie Marion Gan, Carl Albert Gan and George Ward Gan, all of Cabool.
She is survived by four nieces and one nephew, Sandra Gan Rolland of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, Rhonda Gan Gilbert of Blackburn, Missouri, Gary Gan of Mtn. Grove, Taska Gan Zulkhe of Waverly, Nebraska, and Nada Gan Johnston of Cabool, as well as several great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
As young women, Eula and Gladys were employed at a tomato cannery in Bloodland. They both moved to St. Louis to help in the war effort. When Ft. Leonard Wood was established, the Gan farm was purchased as a part of the fort property and the entire Gan family relocated to a farm at Cabool.
Gladys obtained employment at the telephone company as a telephone operator and continued in this position until retirement.
She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at the funeral chapel. Inurnment will be at a later date in Cabool Cemetery.
