Kayla Dawn Letterman

Kayla Dawn Letterman, 23, was called home to be with the Lord on December 3, 2013 after years of struggling with epilepsy. She passed away in her home in Willow Springs, Missouri, due to a fatal seizure.

Kayla was born on May 30, 1990, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Missouri. She grew up in Willow Springs and was a member of the Willow Springs High School Class of 2008. Kayla received numerous awards and medals when she became involved in FFA, where she went on to become secretary and also president of the chapter. She was currently in her final semester to achieve her bachelor’s degree at Drury University in Cabool. She had aspired to become a social worker upon completion. She worked at McDonald’s in Willow Springs since she was 16 and was a manager.

Kayla’s greatest accomplishment and proudest moment in life began on June 13, 2012, when she became a mommy and blessed this world with her son, Taven Shaddyx. Kayla was an amazing mother, treasured daughter, granddaughter and niece, the greatest big sister, and most of all a true friend to all of those she loved.

She is survived by her son, Taven and his father, Justin Frost of Willow Springs; her father, Jimmy Letterman; her mother and stepfather, Toby and John Martin and stepmother Bobbi Whittington, all of Willow Springs; brother Andy Letterman, sister Kendra Aldridge, and stepbrothers, Garrett Sorrell and Jonathan and Jake Martin, all of Willow Springs; grandparents Linda Letterman of Willow Springs, Donna and Weyman Parmley of Anderson, Missouri, and Lu Adams of Cabool, Missouri; aunts and uncles Justan Letterman of Oklahoma, Jim and Sarah Turnbull of Willow Springs, Michaelle Lee of Raymondville, Missouri, and Dean and Pam Adams of St. Louis, Missouri; cousins Jacob and Julie Turnbull of Willow Springs, Coleman and Denim Lee of Raymondville, Amelia and Taylor Adams of St. Loui,s and Eddie Cameron of St. Joseph, Missouri; and a host of family and friends too numerous to mention.

Kayla will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was a ray of light to those who knew and loved her. Although often teased for never smiling, Kayla loved to laugh. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family but most of all, snuggling, loving and playing with Taven.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Myrtle Adams, Irvan and Helen McClellan, and Ed and Pauline Letterman; her grandfathers, “Pa-Pa Kenneth” Letterman and “Grandpa Louie” Adams; and two uncles, Travis Cameron and Darrell Lee.

Services were held on Saturday, December 7, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Westside Family Life Center in Willow Springs with Pastor David Lovan officiating. Pallbearers were Jimmy Letterman, Andrew Letterman, Garrett Sorrell, Dean Adams, Coleman Lee and Denim Lee. Interment was in Willow Springs Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool. Online condolences may be made at www.egcfuneralhome.com.
