Frankie Nell Bowen, 85, Nevada, Missouri, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Barone Alzheimer’s Care Center in Nevada.
She was born May 27, 1927 in Branson, Missouri, to Preston L. Branstetter and Tassie Thorne Ballard Branstetter.
She was married December 8, 1945 in Mountain Grove, Missouri, to Carl W. Bowen. He preceded her in death on November 15, 2002.
Mrs. Bowen taught school for three years at the Liberty School in Texas County, Missouri. She and Carl moved to Nevada from West Plains, Missouri, in 1960. Frankie worked as a psychiatric ward charge at Nevada State Hospital from 1960 to 1966. She then worked as a caseworker for Vernon County Family Services from 1966 until her retirement in 1980. She was a member and board member of the Church of the Nazarene in Nevada. She also taught Sunday school and played the piano. Things that were most important in her life were her faith and her family.
Survivors include three daughters, Carleta Burnett and husband Donald of Richmond, Virginia, Joy Jeffries and husband John B. of Nevada, Misouri, and Pamela Bowen and husband Tom of Kansas City, Missouri; one son, Randall Bowen and wife Dianna of Moundville, Missouri; four grandchildren, Valerie Tabler, John R.P. Jeffries, Jordan R. Jeffries, and Joel Jeffries; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rutha Altis of Independence, Missouri, and Loura Ann Ford of Houston, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Carl.
Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Rev. Kendall Ford and Rev. Mike Satterlee officiating. Interment followed in Moundville Cemetery, Moundville.
