Grace Peggy Sigman passed away at Parkview Health Care Facility in Bolivar, Missouri, on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at the age of 78.
Born in Texas County, Missouri, she was the daughter of James Claude Darter and Ethel Pearl (Orr) Darter.
She married Vernon L. Sigman of Cabool, Missouri, in 1956 and they shared 57 years of marriage during which they raised their family and enjoyed their grandchildren. Peggy worked as an elementary school librarian in the Cabool School District for many years. She was an active member of Maness Memorial Baptist Church and involved in scouting, teaching vacation Bible school, and Sunday school. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and nature. Peggy was a passionate quilter and doll maker.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by five sisters and six brothers.
She is survived by her husband, Vernon L. Sigman, and her sister, Mary Carr, both of Cabool. She is also survived by two sons, Scott Sigman and wife Vicki of Bolivar, Missouri, and Mike Sigman and wife Jean of Oviedo, Florida; one daughter, Sally Palmer and husband Marty of Hatboro, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services were Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Maness Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Brown officiating. Pallbearers were Justin Wrinkle, Walter “Wally” Darter, Barry Sigman, Jon Sigman, Nick Gregg and Marty Palmer. Interment was in Cabool Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
