Margaret Catherine Middleton, daughter of the late Emery and Myrtle (Ritter) Jackson, was born on September 23, 1919 in Bridgewater, Ohio, and passed away on August 28, 2013 in the Villa of St. Francis Nursing Home in Olathe, Kansas, following a short illness. She was 93 years of age.
Margaret grew up in Ohio and was united in marriage to Albert Alley Middleton on July 9, 1942. Three children were born to this union. They moved to the Mtn. Grove, Missouri, area in 1957. Mr. Middleton passed away on December 16, 1995.
Margaret was employed by the Brown Shoe Company in Mtn. Grove for several years. After working at the shoe factory, she and Albert owned several businesses over the years. The first was the Dew Drop Inn Café, just off the Mtn. Grove square. After selling this business, they started a coin-o-matic laundry in town and eventually owned others in Cabool, Missouri, and Hartville, Missouri.
Margaret enjoyed riding horses and taking care of her family, having get-togethers, and visiting with those around her. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was a longtime member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Mtn. Grove. She enjoyed attending services and visiting with her many friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Millard Jackson of Washington, D.C.
She is survived by three children, Frank Middleton and wife Linda of Montpelier, Ohio, Connie Morris of Olathe, Kansas, and Sherry Bradshaw and husband Leon of Maysville, Missouri; six grandchildren, Marty Sanders and wife Brenna of Independence, Missouri, LaRhonda Flynn of Kingsville, Missouri, Michael Middleton and wife Tiki of Redway, California, Stephanie Dresser and husband Jeff of Fisher, Indianan, Stacie Johnson and husband Shannon of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Raman Bradshaw and wife Noelle of Kansas City, Missouri; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter, and a host of other relatives, church family, and friends.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 4, 2013, in First Freewill Baptist Church in Mtn. Grove with Rev. Jerry Pinkerton officiating. Ray Bradley, accompanied by Teresa Bradley sang “Old Rugged Cross” and “Rock Of Ages.” Pallbearers were Chris Dale, Ray Bradley, Joe Robertson, Allen Dowden, Lavoid Jennings, Paul Harker, Doyle Hill and Marlin Sanders. Burial was in Willow Springs Cemetery under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove.
