Roy Bill Strong

Roy Bill Strong passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2013, in the loving arms of his Lord and Savior at his home in Cabool, Missouri, at the age of 79 years and two months.

He was born on May 13, 1934 in Douglas County, Missouri, the son of John and Pearl (Hall) Strong.

Bill retired from Grisham in 2011 after working there for 14 years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, collecting coins, mowing lawns and puffing his pipe tobacco pipe; like he always said, he didn’t inhale.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Harold Strong, Jake Mullnack, Bernie Strong and Bob Strong; three sisters, Juanita Squires, Melba Honeycutt and Virginia Strong; a daughter, Ade Lou Strong; a granddaughter, Trista Cruse; three nieces, Helen Sears, Sandy Wake and Suze Sterner; and four nephews, Mike Strong, Roger Sears, Lonnie Mullnack and Danny Mullnack.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Alice of the home; daughters Billie Jean “Debbie” and husband Wayne Phillips of Ripley, Oklahoma, Robin and husband Chris Joyce of Cottage Grove, Oregon, Tammy and husband Kenny Frame of Elk Creek, Missouri, Becky and husband Steve Mayberry of Cabool, Lisa and husband Roger Wake of Cabool, Pam Sharp of Springfield, Missouri, and Rhonda and husband Denny Stevens of Licking, Missouri; a son, Terry Strong and wife Denise of Cabool; a brother, Gene Strong and wife Judy; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; a special friend, Bonnie Arnold, with whom he had coffee every morning; as well as many friends, coworkers and neighbors. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Maness Memorial Baptist Church in Cabool with Rev. Terry Brown officiating. Pallbearers were Stetson Stevens, Dalton Sharp, Trey Frame, Roger Lee Wake, Roy Lee Newkurk and Robert Phillips. Honorary pallbearers were Steve Strong, Dallas Strong, Anthony Cruse, Kevin Taylor, Terry Taylor, K.J. Frame, Zack Taylor and Matthew Newkurk. Interment was in Cabool Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
