Carolyn Sue Estes

Carolyn Sue (Hines) Hicks-Estes ended her valiant battle with cancer on November 6, 2012 in Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri. She fought with courage and determination.
She was born on August 13, 1947 to Thomas and Lou (Collins) Hines in Cabool, Missouri.

Carolyn grew up and attended school in Cabool. She was united in marriage to Donald Lee Hicks, and three children, Bradley, Brian, and Kimberly, were born to this union. Mr. Hicks preceded her in death.

She later married Alan Estes, and one daughter, Karen, was born to this union. Alan and Carolyn were together for several years. He stood beside her throughout her illness and was with her until the end.

In her spare time, Carolyn enjoyed doing ceramics, taught herself how to use the computer, but above all, she loved to shop. She was also an avid reader and a big gum chewer. You could always tell how good the book was by how hard she chewed her gum.

Besides her first husband, she was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Hines, and a son, Bradley Hicks.

She is survived by her loving husband, Alan Estes of their home in Marshfield, Missouri; her mother, Lou Taulbee of Licking, Missouri; one son, Brian Hicks of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; two daughters, Kim Rader and husband Donnie of Norwood, Missouri, and Karen Dugger of Marshfield; five grandchildren, Shelbie and Riley Robertson of Norwood, and Koby, Landon, and Sadie Dugger of Marshfield; two sisters, Linda Billings and husband Jerry of Overland Park, Kansas, and Lisa Hoylman and husband Bob of Licking; two brothers, Terry Hines of Hartville, Missouri, and James Hines and wife Terri of Grovespring, Missouri; several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and other relatives, friends, and neighbors who will dearly miss her.

Graveside services were held on Friday, November 9, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. in Lone Star Cemetery with Bro. Darren Morris officiating. Burial was in Lone Star Cemetery under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove.
