She was born on December 16, 1933 in Jefferson County, Missouri, to Frona Belle (Camden) Parker and Levi David Parker and spent her childhood in Elvins, Missouri.
Betty married Raymond Schmitt in 1956, and together they spent three years in Frankfurt, Germany, an experience Betty considered a highlight of her life. During her working years, Betty made sports equipment in a plastics factory and later worked as a certified nurse aide. She retired to Cabool and enjoyed life at Pineview Heights Senior Apartments, becoming a regular at the weekly bingo nights. She treasured her friendship with Anna Mae Sain.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Denver Parker; and six sisters, Gerean Szatko, LucyWells, June Barbee, Wanda Jandt, Doris Stegall and Glenda Smith.
She is survived by her daughter, Ella Rich; her granddaughter, Morgan Rich; and her siblings, Harold Parker of Faribault, Minnesota, Anita Moore of Pevely, Missouri, Jimmy Parker of Fayette, Missouri, Danny Parker of Flat River, Missouri, and Carolyn Lacy of Hollister, Missouri.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2012, at the funeral chapel with Christina Cobb officiating. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery at Elk Creek, Missouri, under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
