Othene Victoria Brigance

Mrs. Othene Brigance passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, while at Kabul Nursing Home in Cabool, Missouri. Born on August 8, 1915 in Willow Springs, Missouri, to Harve E. and Lula Belle (Dryman) Stringer, she was 96 years old.

Mrs. Brigance grew up in Willow Springs where she graduated from high school. She married Brodie Brigance in Houston, Missouri, in 1933. The couple later moved to Joplin where they lived until returning to Willow Springs in 1973.

Othene enjoyed knitting, crochet, quilting, refinishing furniture, and was an avid reader. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Willow Springs. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.

Mrs. Brigance was preceded in death by her husband, Brodie Brigance, on November 22, 1996; her brothers, Ewing Stringer, Sonny Lloyd Stringer, Russell Stringer, Tom Stringer, Clifford “Mack” Stringer, Darrel Stringer and Roy Lee Stringer; and her sisters, Geneva Luttrell and Frances Holloway.

She is survived by her sister, Betty Corn and husband Joe of Springfield, Missouri, and her brother, Richard “Doc” Stringer and wife Mary Frances of Cabool, Missouri.

Visitation was held Saturday morning, August 4, at Willow Funeral Home in Willow Springs. A graveside funeral service followed at 11:00 a.m. at Willow Springs City Cemetery. Pastor David Cox officiated. Arrangements were under the direction of Willow Funeral Home in Willow Springs.
