She was born May 17, 1924 in Mountain View, Missouri, the daughter of N.R. “Nappy” and Bessie Frank. Much loved sisters Jeanne Dvorak and Kay Swafford made up this family.
Maxine was united in marriage to James H. “Cotton” Carter.
Maxine was employed by Smith Flooring, for over 20 years, where she made many friends.
The latter years of Maxine’s life were spent in her home in Mountain View, where she enjoyed many hours at her favorite pastime, reading. During those years, she wrote two books, The Teething Thirties and a wonderful book about the Falkland Islands.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, husband “Cotton,” and sister Jeanne.
She will be greatly missed by her sister, Kay Swafford of Mountain View, and all her nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2012, in Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View, with Rev. Nolan Wilkins officiating. Interment was in Cabool Cemetery, Cabool, Missouri.
