Daniel Edward Springer, 50, of Columbia, Missouri, passed away September 28, 2011 at his home.
Dan was born November 17, 1960, in Rolla, Missouri, to Eugene Claude and Anne Marie (Knoblauch) Springer. He graduated from Missouri State University, class of 1983.
He was married to Melissa Alpers, formerly of Cabool, Missouri.
He taught students how to build theatre sets and how to navigate life. He was a member of Alpha Psi Omega theatre fraternity. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed canoeing, climbing trees, downhill skiing, fishing, Frisbee golf, cycling and gardening, as well as enjoying drawing, sculpting, woodworking and cooking for his family.
Dan is survived by his wife, Melissa; three children, Kate Springer of Champaign, Illinois, and Emily Springer and Paul Springer, both of Columbia; his parents, Eugene and Anne Springer of Bourbon, Missouri; five siblings, Tom Springer and wife Chris of Boonville, Missouri, Patty Pratt and husband Tim of Steelville, Missouri, Susy Scott and husband Brad of Des Peres, Missouri, Jim Springer and wife Carol of Saugatuck, Michigan, and Christy Hall of Sullivan, Missouri; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
His funeral service was at 4:00 p.m. October 1, 2011 at Unitarian Universalist Church, 2615 Shepard Boulevard, Columbia.
