Doris Irene Flowers, age 85, daughter of Robert and Ocie (Williams) Gaddis, was born February 11, 1926 in Graff, Missouri. She passed away July 4, 2011 at her home in Houston, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allen; one brother, Efra; and one son, Robbie Flowers.
She is survived by one son, Rick Flowers and wife Connie of Houston; four grandchildren, Amy, Ryan, Brad, and Amber; five great-grandchildren, Drew, Hunter, Olivia, Charley, and Jake; one brother, Maxie Gaddis and wife Wanda of Dawson, Missouri; two sister, Donra Douglas and husband Dickie of Houston and Dixie Stallcup and husband Ronald of Vandalia, Missouri.
Doris grew up in the Graff/Dawson area. She graduated from Houston High School in 1946. She married Allen Flowers April 5, 1947.
She was a member of Cabool Church of Christ for over 50 years.
Doris was a farm girl through and through. She loved the farm. She enjoyed baking, cooking and gardening and especially taking care of her cows. Her daily routine always included feeding and checking on them.
The Flowers family held a very special place in her life. She looked forward to the reunions, seeing and visiting with all of them. One special highlight of her life was spending time with her grandchildren.
Doris was a loving mother and grandmother. She had a wonderful sweet spirit and had a smile for everyone she met. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Services were at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 8, 2011, in Evans Funeral Home with burial in Union Cemetery. The family requests memorials be made to Hospice of Care or Union Cemetery.
