Dorothy Darline Stoops, the daughter of George Thomas Plummer and Nettie A. (Lynch) Plummer, was born in Lyons, Colorado, on January 8, 1930. Dorothy went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, August 18, 2011, at Mountain View Health Care in Mountain View, Missouri, making her age 81 years.
Dorothy and Leland Stoops were united in marriage at Salem, Arkansas, October 30, 1948, making their union together 60 years before Leland’s death in 2008. To their union four children were born, Junior, Rhonda, Steven and Rick.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Leland; her parents, George and Nettie Plummer; two sisters, Etta Keeling and Lois Lampkins; one brother Paul Plummer; and one grandson, Derick Stoops.
Surviving are her children, Junior Stoops and wife Pat of Cabool, Missouri, Rhonda Tharp and husband Dick of West Plains, Missouri, Steven Stoops and wife Janet of Ellington, Missouri, and Rick Stoops and wife Sheila of West Plains; two sisters, Jewel Percy and Neva Crabtree, both of Mountain View; ten grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way; and host of nieces, nephews and friends.
She became a Christian at a young age and was faithful to her faith. She ministered along with her husband as they pastored several area churches. She enjoyed singing gospel songs and loved music. She liked going to the area nursing homes to visit with the residents. She liked camping and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her Lord and her family were her life.
Funeral services were Monday, August 22, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Gary Steelman, Rev. Gary Larson, and Rev. Emmett Bradford officiating. Interment will be in Antioch Cemetery under the care of Bradford Funeral Home of Summersville, Missouri. On line condolences maybe sent to bradfordfuneralhome.net.
