Garlin Ray Baney

Garlin Ray Baney, son of the late Thomas and Fern (Hall) Baney, was born on February 27, 1946 in Cabool, Missouri, and departed this life on October 27, 2011 at the age of 65 years and eight months.

Ray was united in marriage to Zetta Carol Ellison on June 9, 1972 in Buffalo, Iowa. They made their home in Cabool where they had a small family farm. He loved to hunt and fish and was a truck driver by trade, but he had to retire at a young age due to heart problems.

Ray gave his life to the Lord at a young age and was baptized. He rededicated his life to his Lord and Savior and was baptized in 2009. Family and friends were very important to Ray. He was always willing to go out of his way to help anyone in need. His grandkids were the joy of his life, the first thing he would ask about, and the last thing he would say when you were on the phone with him was “take care of my babies, give them kisses from Grandpa.”

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Connie Childres and Shirley Upshaw; two brothers, J.D. Baney and Thomas Baney; and one granddaughter, Brittney Nicol Guntrun.

He is survived by his children, Regina Cox of Springfield, Missouri, Shawanna Hanson and husband Jesse of Diggins, Missouri, Kyla Collins and husband Tommy of Springfield, Joyce E. Ice and husband Cody of Houston, Missouri, Sherry Ray Smith of Montana, Vicky Gene of Michigan, Kelly Ellison and wife Debbie of Houston, and Ronald Troy Ellison of Houston; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Nova Baney; as well as numerous other family and many friends. He will be well remembered and greatly missed by all.

Graveside services were at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at Mt. Ararat Cemetery near Cabool with Terry Wallace officiating. Interment was under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
