Gynetha Clay Sullivan, 83, of Cabool, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2011, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Missouri.
She was born on November 9, 1927 in Solo, Missouri, the daughter of Abe Ray and Gladys Mae (Cunningham) McNew.
Gynetha had to walk about a mile to attend Green Hill School and she attended Houston High School, graduating with the class of 1945. On Sundays you would find her at the Oak Dale Church; she was saved at a young age during vacation Bible school at Simmons, Missouri.
Gynetha was united in marriage to the man of her dreams, Orvill Sullivan, Jr., on January 14, 1945. This union was blessed with three daughters and three sons. She chose to keep the home fires burning and raise her family. She treasured her family, teaching each and every child that they were precious and special. She was always there with open arms to spoil a grandchild, rock a baby or whatever the situation called for; she was the first to tell them about Jesus and if you would ask her she was always “fine, just fine.”
Gynetha was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Jessica; a sister, Arlene Fields; and a brother, Dale McNew.
She is survived by her husband, Orvill; daughter Judy Mae Ice and husband Carl; son Kenneth Lee Sullivan and wife Judy Ann; son David Ray Sullivan and wife Donna; daughter Jo Ann Schauer and husband Dana; daughter Patsy Sue Stoops and husband Paul Junior; son Clay Dean Sullivan and wife Becky; 15 grandchildren, numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ben McNew and Lee McNew; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Services were at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at Cabool Second Baptist Church with Bro. David Purichia officiating. Pallbearers were Troy Sullivan, Ronnie Sullivan, Daniel Sullivan, Chad Sullivan, Jason Sullivan, Wyatt Sullivan, Alan Shaw and Kevin Shaw. Honorary pallbearer was Teri Jo Stoops. Interment was in Cabool Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
