Margaret Elizabeth Atkisson, 77, Springfield, Missouri, passed away May 14, 2011 in her home.
She was born June 29, 1934 to Noah and Ruth Grogan. She attended Cabool High School in Cabool, Missouri.
She was married to Aaron Atkisson August 16, 1958 in Houston, Missouri. She continued her education while raising her family.
She owned Atkisson and Associates Accounting Firm in Springfield for 20 years, selling it in 1990 due to her failing health.
She enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. She enjoyed painting, ballroom dancing, and water skiing. She was active in Beaux Bells and Starlight Debonaire, Top Of The Town Dance Club. She was past president of ASWA and SMMA art group and was a longtime member of King’s Way United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Steven.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Aaron; one son, Jeffery Atkisson of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren, Matthew Rhoades, Lauren Atkisson and Evan Atkisson; three sisters, Barbara Fish and husband Bill, Mildred Keene and husband Richard, and Carol Eaton and husband Emory; one brother, Ronnie Grogan and wife Debby; several nieces and nephews, cousins, a host of friends, and a special companion, her faithful poodle, Tiffany.
No memorial services are planned at this time. A private family graveside service will be held at Hopedale Cemetery in Ozark, Missouri, at a later date under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
