Marjorie H. Thompson, 86, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, died Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at her home.
She was born June 13, 1925 in Cape Girardeau to Bertrand and Ella Keller Miller.
She married Wayman R. “Tommy” Thompson on June 2, 1943 while he was receiving his commission as military pilot. After his discharge, Tommy and Marge along with her parents were co-owners of Sunny Hill Feed and Seed Store and Sunny Hill Poultry Company, Inc. The family grew their business until 1958 where the poultry processing plant was relocated to Cabool, Missouri. ?While raising two young daughters, Marge was an active participant in both business and parenting; she was the office manager for the business and taught Sunday school in Cape and then continued her support of Girl Scouts when the family moved to Cabool. Two more daughters were born while in Cabool as the poultry business continued to grow. In 1966, Marge and Tommy retired to southwest Florida where they established several businesses and raised their second set of daughters. Tommy passed away in 1987.
Survivors include ?daughters Nancy C. L’Hommedieu of Tallahassee, Florida, ?Trisha Kell of Cape Girardeau and Miami, Florida, ?Julia Thompson of Cape Girardeau, ?and Lisa Thomas of Raleigh, North Carolina; ?grandchildren Darren L’Hommedieu of Cape Coral, Florida, Kristen Kell of Miami, Florida, Audrey Stanfield of New York, New York, ?and Michelle Stanfield, Raleigh, North Carolina; and great-grandchildren Tommy and Nicole L’Hommedieu.
A private graveside service was held Friday, July 29, 2011, at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
