Mimy Antonia (Faccio) Forbeck passed on to be with her Savior May 30, 2011 at the age of 89 years.
She was born in Adria, Italy, the daughter of Oreste and Roma Libera Italia (Gallupo) Faccio on June 5, 1921. She was raised in Triestle, Italy, where she met and married Army serviceman Earl Frank Forbeck. They lived in Germany, New Jersey, Texas, and Missouri before settling in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She worked for a time at Broadmoor Hotel and then spent her years as a stay-at-home mother.
Mimy never learned to cook until it became trial and error after she was married, working from the memories of her parents cooking. She became an amazing cook, feeding many, many friends and family over the years. Her lasagna and especially her stuffing were among the favorites, and loved ones recall, “She had the best stuffing ever.” Her hands were rarely idle; she loved to knit, crochet, cross-stitch and hand-quilt.
Mimy is survived by her children, Daniel Lee Forbeck and wife Sharon, Kay Lynn and husband Bruce Swinarton, Joseph William Forbeck, Victoria Christina and husband Eric Lindgren, Patrick Richard and wife Cindy, all of Colorado Springs, and Mark Lance Forbeck and wife Angie of Cabool, Missouri; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Marisa and husband Cal Rains of Westminster, Colorado, who will dearly miss endless conversations in Italian; and nieces Lisa and Robyn and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her adoring husband; one child, Dennis Francis, and her beloved sister, Giovanna Faccio.
Mimy was the epitome of compassion and a true beacon of love for all who entered her life. She was loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed.
