Russell Harold Lee Jr.

Russell Harold Lee Jr., 62, of Cabool, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2011. at his home.

He was born February 23, 1949 in Cabool, the son of Russell and Rosemary (Backus) Lee.

A 1967 graduate of Cabool High School, Russell earned a degree in theology from Ozark Christian College in 1972. Ordained into the ministry at Cabool Christian Church, Russell served as minister at Nagle Christian Church, Elk Creek, and Countryside Christian Church in West Plains, Missouri. Many summers were spent at Rock Garden Christian Service Camp as both a loyal camper and faculty member earning his nickname “Pepsi“ through victory in the famous Pepsi challenges.

An extension of his ministry, Russell taught auto collision technology for 27 years at Ozark Mountain Technical Center in Mountain Grove, Missouri. In addition to his teaching duties he served as VICA sponsor and held various positions within the local and state chapter of Missouri State Teachers Association.

Russell was united in marriage to Mildred Evins of Willow Springs, Missouri, on May 27, 1978, a union which was blessed with three children, Rusty, Mindy, and Dusty.

He was preceded in death by his father, Russell, and his mother, Rosemary.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred of the home; his children, Rusty and wife Andrea of Crane, Missouri, Mindy Lee of Ozark, Missouri, and Dusty Lee of Ozark; two grandchildren, Douglas and Colby; along with many other relatives and special friends.

Russell enjoyed spending time with his family, collecting and restoring classic cars, bowling, and serving in many organizations, including MDA and Angel Food. He also served as the scoutmaster of the Troop 50 Boy Scouts out of Mountain Grove.

Russell will be remembered by many for his unyielding faith and loyalty to his church and family.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2011, at Cabool Christian Church with Bro. Rod Farthing and Bro. Bob Martin officiating. Pallbearers were Doug Hale, Jamie Lane, John Kerley, Ronnie Davis, Brad Miller and Sam Mudd. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery in Mtn. Grove under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
