Aileen Devenia Brauer, 84, of Sedalia, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was born April 10, 1926, in Texas County, Missouri, a daughter of Israel and Mary Hattie Sigman Altis.
On March 29, 1947, she married Jewell C. Brauer, who died November 2, 1991.
Mrs. Brauer was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ. Her biggest enjoyment was her grandchildren, especially when they were little. She was very active in crocheting, genealogy, canning and gardening. She worked throughout her life, but her most enjoyable employment was the ten years she drove a school bus. Most people knew her as “Shorty.”
Surviving are one daughter, Connie Grotzinger, and her husband, Larry; nine grandchildren, Lee Grotzinger, Donnie Grotzinger, Karry Scott, Devenia Self, Travis Grotzinger, Lori Haney, Kathy Meroney, Tammy Stamphill and Todd Brauer; 21 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill Altis, and his wife, Betty, and Benny Altis; and a sister, Carol Boykin, and her husband, Lee.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Jo and Barbara; a son, Jerry; and a grandson, Clint Grotzinger.
Graveside services and burial were at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 20, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sedalia with the Rev. Brady Abel officiating.
Casket bearers were grandsons Lee Grotzinger, Todd Brauer, Donnie Grotzinger, Karry Scott, Travis Grotzinger and Marcus Self.
