Alben Harry Neal

Alben Harry Neal, son of Herman Neal and Myrtle Merchant Neal, was born November 7, 1948 at home in Upton, Missouri. He passed away at home in Upton at the age of 61 years on October 4, 2010.

He was married from 1970 to 1988 to Marlene Stark Neal. To this union four children were born.

He married Bonnie Cooper Neal in 1991 and they resided in their home until his death.

He was preceded in death by both parents and a brother, Dale Neal.

He is survived by five sisters, Marie Franklin, Donna Campbell, Lavell Johnson, Dee Gronewaller and Kay Smith; three brothers, Darrell Neal, Wilbert Neal of Cabool, Missouri, and Robert Neal; children Nidena Liesner, Darren Neal, Kitrena Sanders and Jarrell Neal; three stepchildren, Julie Hardwick, Clifford Norris and Amy Ivie; seven grandchildren, Cody Neal, Trenton and Laken Neal, James Burris, Emily, Jacob and Sarha Sanders; seven step grandchildren, Joie, Winter and Summer Hardwick, Ethan and Nikkita Norris, Nealy Brawley and Ashlyn Michelson; and 13 step great-grandchildren.

He was raised in Upton Township, attending Pleasant Ridge and Houston schools.

His best friend, Arden Stilley, was like a brother and Alben was godfather to Arden’s children, Alben and Tonya Stilley Leuty. Together in their teens they traveled to Nebraska.

Alben worked in construction, roofing, farming, milking and logging during his life. He loved to spend time with his family and two dogs, Baby Girl and Katie. He made several friends while operating Ridge Road Hideaway. He liked to travel, especially to see his Uncle Claude and Aunt Pat in Texas.

He loved horses, gardening, fishing, hunting and searching for snakes.

Alben will be sadly missed family and friends.

Services were Saturday, October 9, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. in Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Cordie Wimberley and Pastor Lynn Gayer officiated. Body was cremated after the service.
