Arlene Beatrice Elliott Lockett, 87, of Cabool, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at Kabul Nursing Home.
She was born on October 15, 1922 at Simmons Missouri, the daughter of Ling Alonzo and Mary Ellen (Mead) Elliott. Both her parents died when she was a very young girl. She was raised by her grandmother, Emelia Mead, and an uncle and aunt, Clinton and Gertie Mead.
Arlene lived most of her life in the Oak Grove community where she attended grade school at Oak Grove School.
Arlene was united in marriage to Ralph Robert Lockett April 23, 1943. They were married 48 years. Arlene stayed in Colorado for a year to be near Ralph while he recovered from wounds received in World War II. After his discharge from the Army they spent most of their time on their dairy farm north of Cabool, moving to Cabool in March of 1991.
Arlene was a member of Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church where they attended faithfully. After Ralph’s death she attended Cabool Christian Church as long as her health permitted.
Arlene and Ralph had no children of their own, but they loved having nieces, nephews and neighbor children in their home. One of her greatest joys was to share food and her embroidered handwork.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, in August of 1991; four brothers, Henry, Alva, Carl and Lee Elliott; and three sisters, Nellie Black, Ella Jarrett and Lena Taff.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Pallbearers were Jerry Elliott, Benny Scheets, Garry Jarrett, Ronnie Toalson, Darren Taff and Jay Taff.
