Dena Lynn (Smallwood) Anderson, the youngest child of Falus and Mava (Brown) Smallwood, was born on March 6, 1958 in Bellflower, California, and departed this life on Monday, May 31, 2010, at her residence in Mtn. Grove, Missouri. She was 52 years, two months and 25 days of age.
Dena grew up and attended school in the Cabool area. She was a very creative person who enjoyed making crafts, purses, and quilts to give to those around her. She lived life to the fullest and enjoyed spending time with her dog, Bo.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved her family very much and enjoyed visiting with her many friends. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Falus and Mava Smallwood, and an infant daughter, Amie Plummer.
She is survived by her son, Marty Anderson of Springfield, Missouri; her daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Dannie Mahurin of Mtn. Grove; three grandchildren, Chaseton, Devin and Shiana; one brother, Jim Smallwood and wife Diana of Cabool, Missouri; two sisters, Betty Golden and husband Jimmy of Fountain Hills, Arizona, and Brenda Barnes and husband Bill of Palm Desert, California; four nephews; three nieces; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. in Craig-Hurtt Chapel with Rev. Roger Flint officiating. Song selections were “One Sweet Day” and “Arms Of An Angel.” Pallbearers were Marty Anderson, Spencer Roberts, Chastin McLain, Bryan Golden, John Plummer, Chris Emery and Dannie Mahurin. Burial was in Mount Ararat Cemetery under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove.
