Mary Ethel Crabtree, 90, of Tyrone, Missouri, passed away in Cabool, Missouri, on Friday, January 21, 2011, with her sons and daughters-in-law at her side. Ethel was born on March 24, 1920, in Paint Rock, Missouri, to Mollie (Ford) and Franklin Grogan.
Mary was united in marriage to Rufus Crabtree on March 15, 1948, and to this union two sons were born. They lived most of their lives in the Tyrone community, except for living in Oregon while Rufus worked in the timber industry before the birth of their first child. Prior to her marriage she had lived and worked in West Plains and St. Louis.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Iva Grogan; her husband; eight siblings who died in infancy; and a brother, Tony.
She is survived by her sons, David Crabtree and wife Cindy of Republic, Missouri, and Carl Crabtree and wife, Martha of Elk Creek, Missouri; her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Jeremy and Chris-Anne Crabtree, Carson and Cameron of Springfield, Missouri, Christopher Crabtree of East Prairie, Missouri, Curtis and Kelsey Crabtree and Caleb of Cabool and Timothy and Jessie Crabtree who are missionaries in Nicaragua; sisters Peggy Jackson of Overland, Missouri, Frankie Beaird and husband, Lee of Affton, Missouri, and Louise Stark of Macon, Missouri; a brother, Truman Grogan and wife Sandy of Rogersville, Missouri; as well as many other relatives and a host of friends.
Ethel was a gentle, gracious soul who loved her family, friends and the Lord.

Services were at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 24, 2011, at Ozark Baptist Church near Houston, Missouri, with Rev. Kendall Ford officiating. Pallbearers were Jeremy Crabtree, Christopher Crabtree, Curtis Crabtree, James Booker, Rueben Rodeske and Julius Fraley. Interment was in the Antioch Cemetery at Hartshorn, Missouri, under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool. Online condolences may be made at www.egcfuneralhome.com.
