Norma Lee Mollohan

Norma Lee Mollohan, 75, of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, departed this life on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, in her home.

She was born on May 27, 1935 in Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Lee and Hazel (Grewell) Hartsock.

Norma lived in Ottawa, Kansas, until the age of 3½ when her family migrated to California, working in the potato and cotton fields along the way to earn a living. Her family settled in the Monterey Bay area where she was raised. Her parents worked in the fish canaries on the Monterey wharf. At an early are she took a liking to rollerskating and performed in many events and pageants, earning her the California state championship title in her early teen years.

On February 11, 1951 she married the love of her life and her very best friend, Kenneth Mollohan. They were able to spend a wonderful life together for 46 years. They lived in the Monterey Bay area settling in the Castroville, California, area until they retired and moved to Mtn. Grove in October of 1995.

She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, grammy, sister, aunt and friend. She loved her family very much and loved family gatherings. She enjoyed going to the great-grandchildren’s sporting events and she enjoyed going to her granddaughter’s workshop events. Her most favorite pastime was playing bingo. She made many great friends and acquaintances while playing.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Hazel Hartsock, and her husband, Kenneth E. Mollohan on August 3, 1997.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Harvison and husband Aaron of Mtn. Grove; her son, David Mollohan and wife Sheryl of Mtn. Grove; five grandchildren; two step grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; a sister, Wanda Tucker and husband Darrel of Carney, Oklahoma; a brother, Don Hartsock and wife Maryetta of Salinas, California; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Anderson and husband Robert of Akron, Ohio; a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; as well as a host of cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Graveside services were at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 15, 2010, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Mtn. Grove with Rev. Gene Edwards officiating. Pallbearers were grandsons Kenny Spanton, Michael Mollohan and Jody Spanton and nephews Ricky Evans, Dennis Evans and Danny Evans. Arrangements were under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool, Missouri.
