Veri Lee Collins, 84, of Willow Springs, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2010, at Willow Care Nursing Home.
She was born on May 27, 1925 in Senath, Missouri, the daughter of William and May (Fry) Johnson.
Veri was united in marriage to David Collins on May 17, 1942, and to this union a daughter, Virginia Ann “Ginny,” was born. They made their home for most of their married life in Willow Springs. She worked at Conway Winters shoe factory for many years and then became a seamstress for the community. She loved to sew, bake, cook and make crafts.
Veri was baptized in the Baptist church and knew her Lord and Savior. Her body will rest in Cabool Cemetery beside her loving husband and parents, but her soul will be with Jesus.
Veri was preceded in death by her loving husband, David; her parents, May and William Johnson; her stepfather, Henry Beeler; three brothers, Melvin, William and James Johnson; one sister, Betty Johnson; and three nephews.
She is survived by her daughter, Virginia “Ginny” Collins of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; three sisters, Maxine Smith of Wildwood, Missouri, LaCretia Carter and Connie Beeler of Willow Springs; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews; and special friend, Theresa Turner. Her caregivers at Willow Care were also very special to her and will miss her.
Services were at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2010, at the funeral home with Rev. Scott Williamson officiating. Pallbearers were Stacy Renshaw, Paul McElroy, Eric Rogers, David Johnson, John Johnson and Justin Johnson. Honorary pallbearer was Billy Joe Cash. Interment was in Cabool Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool, Missouri.
