Willy “Darren” Severson, 76, of Cabool, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2010, at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri.
He was born on March 14, 1933 in Lyon County, Minnesota, the son of Willie and Dorothy (Hendricks) Severson. He went to school and grew up in the Minneota, Minnesota, area.
Willy had a passion for horses and made a living buying and selling livestock, horses, tack and related items. He had lived in Lyon County, Minnesota; West St. Paul, Minnesota; Rosemount, Minnesota; and moved to Cabool, Missouri, in 2003. In Cabool, Willy became known as “Hillbilly Willy” the horse trader.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
He is survived by his children, Debra (Rodney) Schaffran, Dorothy Hancock, DeeAnn (Don) Cahlin, Donald (Marliese) Severson, Stacy Hoehn, Dan (Jean) Burdick and Rusty Culver; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Memorial services were held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010, at the funeral home. Services will also be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2010, in South St. Paul, Minnesota.
