Ada Verlee (Altis) Hilderbrand, age 85, passed away on November 18, 2008 after an extended illness.
Ada was born October 15, 1923 to Esther (Bray) and Paul Altis in Cabool, Missouri.
She was of the Baptist faith and accepted Christ at an early age.
Ada attended Cabool Schools and graduated in 1942. She completed her education at Kansas City Business Institute. She was an accountant for over 30 years for Oppenheimer Industries (Chrysler dealerships) and four years at George’s Imports (SAAB dealership) from which she retired.
Ada will be remembered for her kindness, friendliness and determination and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband of 55 years, Olney Wray Hilderbrand.
She is survived by two daughters, Judy Annette Bateman of Belton, Missouri, and Jean Roth and husband Don of San Diego, California; two grandsons, Kent Musgrave and Mike Musgrave and wife Karen of San Diego; two great-grandchildren, Heather Wood and Colten Musgrave of San Diego; one great-great-granddaughter, Mary Lou Wood of San Diego; one sister, Fay Noah and husband Jim of Osage City, Kansas; two brothers, Emmett Altis and wife Alta of Kansas City, Missouri, and Hubert Altis and wife Norma of Liberty, Missouri; and many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
Services were held at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Moriah Funeral Home Chapel of Hope, Kansas City, with burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery under the direction of D.W. Newcomer’s Xons Floral Hills Chapel.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Odyssey Hospice or the charity of your choice in Ada’s memory.
