Allen Samuel Grose, 88, of Forsyth, Missouri, and formerly of Cabool, Missouri, went to be with his heavenly family on Saturday, December 13, 2008, at Forsyth Nursing and Rehab Center.
He was born on September 19, 1920 at Yukon, Missouri, the son of Dell and Marian (Smith) Grose.
He was united in marriage to Marie Briggs in December of 1941 and to this union two sons were born, Gary Allen and Dell Wesley.
Allen drove a truck most of his life. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. When he retired he moved to Forsyth to be near the lakes; he always said that sometimes he didn’t go fishing. He attended Mt. Branson Christian Church until he was confined to the nursing home in March of 2008.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie; his son, Dell; his stepfather; and two brothers-in-law, Dale Hanson and Jim Thatcher.
He is survived by his son, Gary and wife Joyce, whom he lived with for the last seven years; a daughter-in-law, Martha of St. Peters, Missouri; his grandchildren, Lonnie Grose of Springfield, Missouri, Teresa Krambeck of Cabool, Missouri, Tyler Grose and wife Jessica of Wright City, Missouri, and Tamara Feucht and husband Jeramyn of Morrison, Colorado; his great-grandchildren, Heather and Dillon Grose, Nicole Krambeck and fiancé Nate, Stephanie, D.J. and Elizabeth Krambeck, and Kyla and Savanna Grose; his sisters, Mary Hanson, Kay Johnson and husband Tom of Illinois and Pat Thatcher of Delaware; as well as many other relatives, friends and fishing buddies. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Services were at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Hubert Darter officiating. Pallbearers were Tyler Grose, Dillon Grose, Lonnie Grose, Sam Foster, Mark Johnson and Nathan Pounds. Honorary pallbearers were Everett Beller and Robert Beller. Interment was in Cabool Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
