Anna Belle Ballard, age 89, daughter of Lewis E. and Margaret (Hull) Doolittle, was born December 21, 1919 in Marion, Ohio. She passed away February 28, 2009 at the home of her daughter in Plato, Missouri.
She lived most of her life in the Marion, Ohio area, raising her family there.
Anna Belle married Carlos Ballard August 9, 1937. They had eight children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband who died in 1974, and one son, Danny Ballard, who died October 25, 2001.
She is survived by her children, Betty Messenger of Plato, Carol Doyle of Neosho, Missouri, Carlos Ballard, Jr. of Houston, Missouri, Teddy Ballard and Nancy Miller of Marion, Ohio, Marilyn Ballard of Cabool, Missouri, and Sally Guinn of Dayton, Ohio; 27 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Anna Belle loved doing hand work. She was talented in crocheting, embroidery, knitting, and making quilts. She also enjoyed doing ceramics. She was an avid doll collector. She loved to go shopping and was always ready to go with anyone who invited her. Anna Belle loved to dance and even danced at her great granddaughter’s wedding two years ago doing the “chicken dance.”
She will be missed.
Services were Thursday, March 5, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. in Cedar Bluff Baptist Church, Falcon, Missouri. Rev. Terry Snelling officiated with burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home, Houston.
