Danny Delbert Alexander

Danny Delbert Alexander, 57, of Cabool, Missouri, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2009, at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri.

He was born on August 16, 1951 in Cabool, the son of Delbert and Delores D. (Ellis) Alexander.

Danny attended school in Cabool through the eighth grade.

He accepted Jesus as his savior in 1977 and attended Cabool First Baptist Church as long as his health permitted. He shared his salvation experience with many people he met. The life he lived touched many people’s hearts. To know him was to love him; everybody loved him, especially his two nieces, Alexandra Danielle and Marlie Nicole, as did his sis, Julie, and his “boy,” Brian Reese.

Dan was an avid sports fan; anyone knowing him knew the Cardinals were his favorite. He never missed a game; he had his own little team and was the manager.

In earlier years he worked with his dad delivering milk to local grocery stores. He was a joy to all who came in contact with him. The one thing you could always count on from him was a hug; he had a hug for you whether he knew you or not. He also enjoyed spending time with his nieces, Alexandra and Marlie, countless hours of unforgettable smiles the girls will remember forever. Even though he couldn’t communicate in his later years he could talk with his eyes. Everyone knew he loved them unconditionally; he showed it in many ways.

Dan spent many years with his aunt, Rutheen, after his grandmother passed away. She was crippled and he helped to care for her. Everyone learned so much about patience, quality time, unconditional love, true faith, trust and kindness at all times from him. The last few years had been hard for him, losing the ability to speak, walk and be active as he had in years past; Dan accepted this with no bitterness. He was cared for by his loving mother, sister and brother-in-law. He had a number of special health care workers that he loved and adored, they were wonderful and caring. He saw many changes in his 57 years of life. He truly appreciated everything that was done for him.

Dan was preceded in death by his father, Delbert.

He is survived by his mother, Delores Alexander; his sister, Julie Reese and husband Brian; his nieces, Danielle and Marlie Reese; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Services were at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2009, at Cabool First Baptist Church with Bros. Kieth Reese, Bob Marti and Bruce Moore officiating. Pallbearers were Mike Owens, Mark Owens, John Mark Owens, Cameron Owens, Glen Williams and Jeff Ellis. Interment was in Cabool Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
