Dona Marie Adams, 68, daughter of Harlan and Myrtle (Melton) Hires, was born August 10, 1940 in Casey, Illinois. She passed away July 8, 2009 at her home in Elk Creek, Missouri.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Dona is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Adams of the home: five children, Robert Adams of Vancouver, Washington, Barton Adams of Nebraska, Daniel Adams of Omaha, Nebraska, Stacy Colgan of Bucyrus, Missouri and Dawn Box of Elk Creek; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Kay Lewis of Guthrie, Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews.
She grew up in Illinois and Colorado. Dona married William H. Adams on April 8, 1964 in Denver, Colorado, and to this union five children were born.
Dona was baptized August 17, 2003 in the Piney River at Houston, Missouri.
She was a loving housewife and mother. Dona loved painting, singing and dancing. She also liked to do arts and crafts, and was a collector of various things. Dona also was known as “The Doll Doctor” as she would fix broken dolls.
Dona will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Per her wishes, Dona was cremated and the family will have a private memorial service at a later date. Cremation was under the direction of Evans Funeral Home, Houston.
