Billy Joe Roberts, M.D., of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away April 18, 2009. He was born August 14, 1927 to Gersham and Lulu Davis Roberts in Cabool, Missouri.
He graduated from Cabool High School and attended Drury College in Springfield, Missouri. He attended Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia. He was a graduate of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City.
Dr. Roberts served his internship at the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia. He began his family practice in Richland, Missouri, for 2-1/2 years, then moved his family to South Bend, Indiana, in October 1957 and practiced medicine until he retired in August 1982.
He was a member of St. Joe County Medical Association, Indiana State Medical Association, and American Medical Association. He was a member of First Christian Church of Cape Coral, Florida. He was also a member of Palmetto Pine Country Club.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Vada; his daughter, Patti Kuruzar; three grandchildren, Stephanie of South Bend, Indiana, Tim of San Diego, California, and Kevin of Fishers, Indiana; a great-grandson, Aidan Pearson of South Bend, Indiana; a sister, Betty Roberts of Cabool; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, K. Edward; his parents; brother Gilbert; and sister Roberta Jones.
