Mrs. Geneva M. (Davis) Stark, 90, of Cabool, Missouri, departed this life on February 27, 2009 at Kabul Nursing Home after a long illness.
She was born on May 12, 1918 in the Sandy Mush community of Leicester, North Carolina, the daughter of Melvin and Margaret (Teague) Davis.
Geneva enjoyed many carefree, childhood days playing in her parents’ grocery store.
She was baptized at an early age. She was a member of Cabool United Methodist Church.
Geneva was united in marriage to Claude Stark of Cabool on May 5, 1945 in Union Baptist Church in Leicester, North Carolina. They moved to East Peoria, Illinois, where she worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company. She retired on June 1, 1978 and they moved to Cabool.
Some of her favorite things to do were traveling to South Texas with Claude, fishing, playing cards with her friends and reading, and she dearly loved her dog, Fluffy. Everyone enjoyed being with her because she was the life of the party.
Geneva was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Claude, who passed away on June 12, 1994; five brothers, Roy, Marvin, Wayne, Carl and Willard; one sister, Myrtle; and Claude’s daughter, Dixie Murphy.
She is survived by nieces Mable Peachee and husband Delmar, and Inez Malberg and husband Noling; Claude’s grandchildren; and numerous other nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by her close friends and family.
Services were at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2009, at the funeral home chapel with Hospice of Care chaplain Pastor Phillip Nava officiating. Interment was in Pine Lawn Cemetery beside her husband, Claude, under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
