Glenn David James was born on January 7, 1938 in Mayfield, Missouri, the son of Davy and Oma (Jones) James. He departed this life on January 26, 2009 at his home in Cabool, Missouri, at the age of 71 years and 20 days.
Glenn was saved at a revival many years ago when he was a young boy.
He came to Cabool in 1957 with the Thompson Poultry Plant, helping build the plant where he worked for several years. He also worked at the Ford dealership, Honeycutt Chevrolet and Matherly Sand and Gravel before retiring.
Glenn was united in marriage to Virginia Ann Maness on December 24, 1959.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia of the home; two brothers, Lindell “Bud” and Jim James of southeast Missouri; five sisters, Lucille Garland, Edna Cook, Nettie Jacobs, Norma Jean Proffer and Linda Bazzell, as well as a host of nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Danny Maness; brother- and sister-in-law Ardell and Billie Cook; two nieces, Debbie Taylor and Kristin Cook; nephew Bobby Cook; great-nephew Stetson Taylor, Amanda and family. He will be missed by all who knew him, family as well as his special neighbors and friends.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2009, at the funeral home chapel with Rick Batten officiating. Pallbearers were Stetson Taylor, Kelsey Stogsdill, Randy Cooper, Russell Cooper, Johnny James and Paul James. Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Cook and Dan Benefiel. Interment was in Cabool Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
