James “Dickey” Dean Sawyer, age 66, son of Earl Sherman and Maxine Delcey (Inman) Sawyer, was born October 17, 1942 at Tyrone, Missouri. He passed away October 27, 2008 at his home in Raymondville, Missouri.
Dickey grew up in Houston, Missouri, and graduated from Houston High School in 1961. He was employed by Ford Motor Company for 30 years and always enjoyed working on old cars.
He is preceded in death by his father, Earl, and his wife, Barbara (Bell) Sawyer.
He is survived by his mother, Maxine Sawyer of Licking, Missouri; four daughters, Tina Marlatt of Wentzville, Missouri, Deanna Whitaker of St. Peters, Missouri, Kim Folsom of Houston, and Patricia Sawyer of Raymondville; 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; three brothers, Calvin Sawyer of Raytown, Missouri, Hubert Sawyer of Pleasington, Kansas, and Earl Dale Sawyer of Cabool, Missouri; two sisters, Cleta Bowen of Green Ridge, Missouri, and Lucille Tilfer of Turner, Oregon; and other relatives and friends.
Dickey enjoyed being outside and he especially loved playing with his grandchildren.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was always looking for ways to help his family and friends and felt that every day spent with family and friends was a blessing. He will be missed.
Services were Friday, October 31, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. in Evans Funeral Home, Houston. Jason Ijames officiated with burial in Pine Lawn Cemetery.
