Mrs. May Lorena Mayfield, 84, of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2009, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Missouri, seven days shy of her 85th birthday.
She was born on February 6, 1924 in Bittis, Indiana, the daughter of Harvey L. and Maud L. (Neher) Bolinger.
May was saved at a young age.
She was united in marriage to Wilbur V. Mayfield on June 15, 1940 in Mtn. Grove, and to this union two children were born, Ron and Linda Gail. She dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker; she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, camping and especially visiting with family and friends.
May was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Maud Bolinger.
She is survived by her husband, Wilbur of the home; her son, Ron and wife Freda of Nixa, Missouri; her daughter, Linda Gail Carter and husband Gene of Mtn. Grove; her twin sister, Faye Shaw of Gainesville, Missouri, and her sister, Frances Shaffer of Lincoln, California; her grandchildren, Cheryl Hocker and husband Tommy of Springfield, Missouri, Linda Pamperien and husband Chris of Mtn. Grove, and Howard Carter and wife Tina of Willow Springs, Missouri; and her great-grandchildren, Adam Carter, Justin Brown and Shelby Brown. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Services were at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2009, in the funeral home chapel with Edwin Carter officiating. Pallbearers were Chris Pamperien, Darrel Neher, Orland Mayfield, Andy Mayfield, Larland Mayfield and Harland Mayfield. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery near Norwood under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool, Missouri.
