Mildred Irene Jones, the oldest child of the late John and Edna (Young) Clark, was born on September 21, 1920 in Dixon, Missouri, and passed away on Friday, October 31, 2008, in Kabul Nursing Home in Cabool, Missouri, following a long illness, at 88 years of age.
She grew up in the Dixon area and was united in marriage to Andrew Sterling Jones on July 16, 1938 in Brumley, Missouri, in Miller County. Two children were born to this union, Charles Lin and Wanda.
Mildred was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family over the years. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Jones; her son, Charles Lin Jones; her daughter, Wanda Gio; and her brother, John Clark.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Janice Jones of Cabool, Missouri; her sister, Wilma Kyle of Santa Clara, California; five grandchildren, Daniel Jones and wife Deanice of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, Doug Jones and wife Donna of Cabool, Darren Jones and wife Lori of Norwood, Missouri, and Kathy Riley and Jeff Gio, both of the State of California; twelve great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, November 4, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. in Hillcrest Cemetery with Rev. Ronald Turner officiating. Song selections were “Amazing Grace” and “Peace in the Valley.” Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove.
