Theda Elnora Hines McCall died July 27, 2009 at Kabul Nursing Home in Cabool, Missouri.
She was born August 21, 1932 at her parents’ home in Topaz, Missouri. Theda was one of 13 children born to Ed and Pearl (Johnson) Hines. She grew up south of Cabool in the Mt. Ararat and Coble communities, graduating from Cabool High School in 1950.
In late 1950 she met and married Woody McCall, a nice young man she had met at church. Woody and Theda moved several times to homes inside and around Cabool before buying their home on Durnell Street where they would live the remainder of their lives. Theda was a natural born mother to her three sons, Terry, Garry and Larry and an exceptional grandmother to her seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Theda was a hard worker; over the years she worked for Brown Shoe Company, Kabul Nursing Home, and as a cook at the Inn Restaurant and the Cabool high rise. She was also an entrepreneur who sold Avon for many years and at one time baked, sold and delivered her delicious breads and desserts.
Theda was a very social person who treasured time spent with her friends. During the last several years she was active with Cabool Red Hat Society. Theda was a woman of great faith and was a member of Cabool Christian Church.
Theda was preceded in death by her parents, eleven of her brothers and sisters and her beloved husband, Woody.
She is survived by her sister, Frances Gibson of Washington state; sons Terry of Anderson, Missouri, Garry of Cabool, and Larry and wife Joyce of Cabool; grandchildren Stefanie McCall of Spokane, Missouri, Ashley Andrews of Springfield, Missouri, Christy Primazon and husband Alan of Cabool, Michael McCall and wife Katie of Cabool, Afton McCall of Cassleberry, Florida, Lindsay McCall of West Plains, Missouri, and Chelsea McCall of Springfield; five great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009, at Cabool Christian Church with Bro. Bob Martin and Rev. Glen Murray officiating. Interment will be in Cabool Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
