Mrs. Edna H. Faler, 88, of Cabool, Missouri, passed away Friday, August 8, 2008, at her home.
She was born on August 24, 1919 in Verdon, Nebraska, the daughter of the late Herman and Bertha (Weick) Becker.
Edna was united in marriage to Glen Faler on December 10, 1948 by the Army chaplain at Fort Knox, Kentucky. This was the beginning of many travels; they lived wherever Glen was stationed, including Germany and Japan. In 1964, Glen retired from the Army and they moved to the farm north of Cabool.
Edna dedicated her life to her family; she really enjoyed being a mother. She spent many hours knitting and sewing clothes for the family and in recent years was still knitting mittens and caps to give away. She loved to cook and tend to her garden and flowers. She had been a member of Cabool United Methodist Church since 1965.
She was preceded in death by her parents, seven sisters and two brothers.
Edna is survived by her husband, Glen of the home; her children, Glenda Miller of Tipton, Missouri, Dennis Faler of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Joyce Harrison of Springfield, Missouri, Nancy Smith of Cabool, Steve Faler of Springfield, and Douglas Faler; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Dora Franzen of Falls City, Nebraska; a sister-in-law, Connie Becker of South Carolina; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Services were at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 11, 2008, at the United Methodist Church of Cabool with Pastor Tom Tomlinson officiating. Pallbearers were Dennis Faler, Steve Faler, Eric Miller, Robert Faler, Alan Faler and Alex Harrison. Honorary pallbearers were Charles Smith, Mike Harrison, Joe Miller, Matthew Faler and Andrew Faler. Interment was in Cabool Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials be given to the United Methodist Church.
