Susan Carol Dukes, 58, was born January 17, 1950 to the Rev. Herbert A. and Helen F. Fisher in Logansport, Indiana. She left behind this life on Thursday, July 31, 2008, after a brave battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, often known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, at the home of her sister in South Hamilton, Massachusetts.
She lived in Easton, Pennsylvania, for many years before going to live in Massachusetts with her sister, Janet. Her sister had been her caregiver for the past year.
Susan was a nurse and loved her jobs caring for other people.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Dukes.
She is survived by one son, Brian Christopher Dukes of the home; two stepdaughters and one stepson; her parents, Herb and Helen Fisher of Cabool, Missouri; two sisters, Janet E. Cahalin of the Boston, Massachusetts, area, and Kathy A. Farris of Santa Fe, New Mexico; one brother, Mark E. Fisher and wife Nina of Ballwin, Missouri; one niece; seven nephews; one grand-niece; aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends.
Susan willed her body to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for research study on ALS.
Memorial services are being planned for August 17 in the Easton, Pennsylvania, area.
Susan will be missed by her family and friends.
