Verna Rose Davidson

Verna Rose Davidson, daughter of Daniel Vernon and Nellie Rose (Pierce) Nicley, was born on September 8, 1939 in Pendleton, Oregon, and departed this life on Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at her residence near Mtn. Grove, Missouri. She was 68 years, ten months and eight days of age.

Verna grew up and attended school in Oregon and was united in marriage to Eldon Ray Davidson on February 21, 1959 in Pendleton, Oregon. Three children were born to this union. They made their home in the Mtn. Grove area for the past 35 years.

Verna was enthusiastic when it came to yard sales. She was also a talented artist and she liked to sew in her spare time.

She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Ivan Nicley.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Eldon Ray Davidson of their home; two sons, Monty Ray Davidson and wife Jodie of Clermont, Florida, and Andre Ryan Davidson and wife Rebecca of Mtn. Grove; one daughter, Carmen Davidson of Deltona, Florida; three granddaughters, Sophia Medina and Natalie Medina, both of Deltona, Florida, and Jessica Davidson of Clermont, Florida; one grandson, Alexander Davidson of Clermont, Florida; two step-grandsons, John Pinnegar of Columbia, Missouri, and Michael Whittenberg of Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota; one step-granddaughter, Sarah Whittenberg of Cabool, Missouri; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services were held Saturday, July 19, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. in Craig-Hurtt Chapel with Rev. Orval Gayer officiating. Song selections were “Angel Band,” “I’ll Fly Away,” and “Keep On The Sunny Side.” Pallbearers were Zane Davidson, Andre Davidson, Monty Davidson, Carmen Davidson, Sophia Medina and Natalie Medina. Burial was in Lone Star Cemetery under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove.
