Mrs. Zelma Mae Garrison, 86, of Cabool, Missouri, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2008, at Kabul Nursing Home.
She was born on November 19, 1921 at Elk Creek, Missouri, the daughter of Mel and Dollie (Fitzgerald) Vollmar.
Zelma was raised in the Cabool area and attended Cabool Schools, graduating with the Class of 1940.
In December of 1942 she was united in marriage to Vern Garrison, and to this union a daughter, Sharon, was born. The family lived all over the Midwest following Vern’s work, until he went to work for Howard Quarries and stayed in Missouri. Vern retired in 1978 and the family moved back to Cabool.
She was a member of Cabool First Baptist Church where she was baptized as a young teenager. She attended services regularly as her health permitted. Zelma dedicated her life to her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially fishing with Vern and her grandson, Kerry.
Zelma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vern; and her daughter, Sharon Spencer.
She is survived by her grandson, Kerry Spencer and wife Tammy of Cabool; three great-grandchildren, Cody, Trevor and Sheena; one great- great-grandson, Alex; and her son-in-law, Leonard Spencer.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Junior Hutsell officiating. Pallbearers were Neil Hamilton, Bill Hamilton, Charles Howard, Glen Spencer, James Garrison and Bill Garrison. Interment was in Cabool Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
