She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and three siblings.
She was the beloved wife of John W. Malchert and beloved mother of two sons, Terry L. Malchert and wife Lori, and Franky L. Malchert and wife Debbie, all of Cabool, Missouri; one daughter, Cherie N. Douglas and husband David of Robertsville, Missouri; beloved grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was a beloved sister of William Beasley and wife Edna and beloved aunt of several nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her.
Barbara worked as a housekeeper for a hotel in St. Louis for 23 years. When John retired they moved back to the Ozarks.
She loved flowers. She had flowerbeds anywhere she could find a spot to plant and her home was filled with plants.
She was a member of Pacific Baptist Church. John drove the church bus while Barbara led the singing and worked in the children’s ministries. She always made any child feel as if they were the most important person on earth. She was a very gracious, carefree, bright and polite woman.
Services were Friday, May 23, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. in Evans Funeral Home. Pastor David Lovan and Pastor Charles Horton officiated with burial in Union Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers were J.W. Scheets, Darrell Scheets, Darren Scheets, Rick Dixon, Josh Dixon, Craig Runzi, and Jeremy Grisham.
Services were under the direction of Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Texas County Hospice of Care.
