Charles Pennington

Charles Pennington, 83, son of John and Fannie (Lowe) Pennington, was born July 21, 1929 in Johnsonville, Illinois. He passed away on October 25, 2012 in Houston, Missouri.

Charles grew up in the Johnsonville, Illinois, area. He left home at an early age and went west. He soon entered the Army, serving in Vietnam and retiring as a military policeman with the rank of staff sergeant in 1969.

He married Frances Howard on December 29, 1969 in Hill City, Kansas. They moved to Arizona and worked on a ranch there. They then moved back to Missouri where Charles had a farm in the Evening Shade area. He sold that and moved to the Cabool area.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Buford; a sister, Ruth; one half brother, Dale; and a half sister, Daisy.

He is survived by his wife, Frances of the home; a daughter, Karen Beck; a daughter, Linda; and two sons, Michael and Ralph.

Charles enjoyed horseback riding, farming and working with his cattle. The farm was a wonderful place for him to work with the animals and enjoy being out of doors in the Ozark hills.

He will be missed by those who knew and loved him best.

Graveside services were Monday, October 29, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. in Palace Cemetery. Pastor Philip McGuire officiated. Services were with military honors and under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
