Claude A. McMinn, Jr. was born March 20, 1924 in Eads, Colorado, the son of Claude McMinn and Eva (Boone) McMinn. He departed this life in Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri, on December 20, 2012.
His siblings were Clark McMinn of Hamlet, Nebraska, Clarabelle McGillvary of Hillsboro, Kansas, Virginia Densler of McPherson, Kansas, Lawrence McMinn of Hillsboro, Kansas, and John McMinn of Hillsboro, Kansas.
Claude spent his school years at Hamlet, Nebraska, where he enjoyed hunting and trapping.
He then served in the U.S. Army on Omaha Beach and at the Battle of the Bulge during World War II.
After returning home, he did carpentry and farm work.
Claude married Ila Berry on December 31, 1945, and to this union six children were born.
The family moved from Nebraska to Cabool, Missouri, on January 1, 1969. During his lifetime at Cabool, he worked for Rees Sawmill, Morris Township, and dairy farmed for 20 years before going to beef.
Claude enjoyed pheasant hunting in Nebraska, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Eva McMinn; a sister, Clarabelle McGillvary; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann McMinn and Patricia Eva McMinn; and a great-granddaughter, Jaedyn.
Claude is survived by his wife, Ila McMinn of Cabool; a daughter, Carol McMinn of Kabul Nursing Home, Cabool; a son, Jim McMinn of Cabool, and four grandsons, Justin, Joshua, Jason and Jeremy, all of Cabool, as well as a great-grandson, John Lane, and three great-granddaughters, Eliza, Jayce and Jasmine; a daughter, Josie Shelley Holabein of San Diego, California, with two grandsons, Jamen Shelly of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Travis Shelley of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, and two great-grandsons, Brock and Dillon, four great-granddaughters, Sasha, Mikayla, Mariah and Madeline, and a great-great-grandson, Riley; a son, Claude McMinn, Jr. of Mtn. Grove, a granddaughter, Amanda Turpin of Houston, Missouri, and a grandson, Russell McMinn of Mtn. Grove, as well as three great-grandsons, Dougie Turpin and Christopher and Zachary McMinn, and three great-granddaughters, Elizabeth Turpin and Madison and Raine McMinn.
Services will be held at Bado Church at a later date to be announced.
